FAQs

What is the difference between a legal and non legal dna test?

Legal DNA tests are performed under a strict, documented chain of custody with proper identification to ensure results are legally defensible in court for matters like child support or immigration, while non-legal DNA tests are for informational purposes only, lacking the chain of custody and identification protocols necessary for legal admissibility.

What is a buccal swab?

A buccal swab is a simple and painless way to collect DNA by gently wiping the inside of your cheek with a cotton swab. This gathers cells containing your DNA for testing, offering a quick and easy sample collection method without needles or saliva samples.

Are buccal swabs samples contaminated because they are taken from the mouth?

No, the swabs may contain bacteria and food but the tests are very specific for human DNA. The DNA from bacteria, food, or other organisms will not affect the tests.
